Not happy with app

For a big time news outlet on cable, I would have expected for this app to be a lot better than it is. The user interface is not practical. When using it on my iPad and the screen is horizontal, the menu bar takes up half of the screen, leaving me only the other half to view the stories that I click on.
When I see a story I want to read more of I have to click on the story once and hope it doesnt freeze. God forbid I scroll down before the page loads. It freezes and I have to restart the app.
It doesnt crash, so thats good. The stories are good and informative. I like the design of the app icon.
